GAI is a small architecture firm based in German Village, Columbus, OH. Our working principal, Laurie Gunzelman, is dedicated to the pursuit of making your idea come to life. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for design, Laurie leads our team in crafting unique, functional, and inspiring spaces that leave a lasting impression.

Laurie Gunzelman, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Working Principal

Recognized as an integral voice in the architecture community, Laurie’s work has received numerous accolades, including an AIA Medal of Merit and design awards from local and state organizations.

As a working Principal, Laurie's experience as a project manager delivers introspective design that fulfills the client’s functional needs while considering both their fiscal and scheduling goals. She successfully manages budgets, resolves issues, and coordinates with consultants in order to meet project goals and deadlines. In addition to her professional work, Laurie serves as a tentative and thoughtful mentor to young professionals working as associates in her close-knit German Village office. Her gift is bringing out the best in her team and delivering hand-crafted solutions, project after project.

Kevin Parzych, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Principal

Graduate of the Knowlton School of Architecture and registered architect with over 10 years of practice, Kevin brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the studio.

Kevin builds relationships with clients in order to understand their needs and communicate their goals through design and expert coordination with consultants. With his strong intuition and dedication to the fulfillment of projects, Kevin has become an attentive leader and integral part of our team.

 
 

Joel Ronscke, NCIDQ, LEED

Interior Design Associate

Joel is a graduate of The School of Design at The Ohio State University and holds NCIDQ and LEED certifications.

As an experienced designer and creative director, Joel works with clients to create inspiring spaces that bring brand and culture together in the built environment. His experience in retail, healthcare, senior living, mixed-use developments, commercial office spaces, and residential design projects give him a well-rounded insight into client needs. Joel’s expertise in design and passion for innovation enables him to deliver clear, tailored solutions.

JEN rufener, assoc. aia

Project Manager

Jen holds an M.S. in Architectural Technologies from SCI-Arc and an M.Arch and B.S. from Kent State University.

Since graduating, Jen has worked for firms in Cleveland and Columbus and taught architecture and technology courses at Kent State University.

With experience in residential, education, commercial projects, sensory design, and architectural visualization, her experiential design approach and focus on the details is geared towards creating immersive, human-centered spaces.

In Jen’s free time, she enjoys making art and ceramics and studies in pursuit of licensure. 

 

ANDY FAILOR, AIA

Architect

Andy recently graduated with a Masters of Architecture at University of Cincinnati. While a student, Andy did co-ops at several firms, giving him experience in construction documentation and construction administration.

GAI will benefit from Andy’s technical expertise using Revit. In Andy’s free time he is studying to take his exams pursuing licensure.

 

BREANNA PARKER

Project Manager

Breanna, a Kent State University graduate and Columbus newcomer, joined the GAI team as part of her mission to devote herself to the community and become a contributor to the built environment.

With experience in BIM, building systems, and construction documentation, combined with a passion for seeing projects in every light, Breanna helps shape and enrich each project.

 

JAKE BIBBO

Architectural Associate

Jake Bibbo joined GAI after graduating from the Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University. Bringing experience from his internship at a construction company, Jake contributes a practical understanding of design and building processes to the team. His enthusiasm and commitment to learning make him a valuable addition to every project he undertakes, and he’s excited to grow within GAI’s collaborative environment.

Sam Olmsted

Architectural Associate

Sam is a graduate of Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. Since graduation, Sam has resided in the Columbus area, gaining experience working mainly on multi-family, mixed-use, and student housing projects. Sam brings this work experience, along with technical expertise in Revit modeling to GAI. In his free time, Sam enjoys playing musical instruments, hiking, and exploring post-industrial small-town Ohio.

 
 

Amy Barnhart

Business Manager

Equipped with a B.A. from the University of Cincinnati, Amy joined GAI as the Business Manager, bringing 15 years of Architectural studio management experience. She supports and leads small businesses with their project and office management, human resources, and accounting functions. She works with clients and architects on resource management, schedules and cost efficiencies.

 
 

Canon Gunzelman, DOG K+9

Canon is a Great Dane who loves to greet clients and visitors to the office and to be called a good girl. She loves taking walks throughout the neighborhood and admiring the architecture (or it could be the other dogs).
